About

Benjamin Jansen
"Hey Weatherboy"

Instruments: Vocals, Guitar, Piano/Keyboards, Bass details
I'm am musician from Alberta who brought all his guitars and now wants some new friends to jam and write music with :) Shoot me a message if you want to play something together :)

I have played music ever since elementary school. I spent the last years since the pandemic writing and recording a dream pop / indietronica album under the pseudonym of Hey Weatherboy. I now want to try and either play the songs live, write new songs under a new recording project, or honestly just jam out a little bit with some new friends. Check the album out here: https://tunelink.co/hey-weatherboy/hey-weatherboy

I also record and produce for a side project called A College Opera with a friend, and played lead guitar for Charles Marks and The Spineless Cowards back home in Lethbridge.

I have some professional vocal training which I took all throughout high school and university. My main vocal influences are Ben Gibbard of Death Cab / Postal Service, Sufjan Stevens, and Mark Kozolek of Red House Painters.

I play lead and rhythm guitar well: I tend to really focus on effects, atmosphere, and sparse but evocative phrases. Some of my key influences are The Edge, Ed O'Brien, Akira Yamaoka (Composer for the Silent Hill series), Kevin Shields, and Johnny Marr. I also love to play bass, and have my own!

I am very proficient in playing piano, synthesizer, and sound design and would love to apply this passion to any live stuff. I mainly work on composing work now, and am trying to work on music for a video game I hope to develop.
