"I'd like to get the story straight on As Sheriff; formed in late 1967, first lineup:Lead guitar/voc: Andy Godon;
rhythm guitar/vocals: Ed Simpson-Baikie;
bass guitar/vocals: Reid Hudson; drums:Peter Lower . In 1968, Harry Creech took over the drum throne; Reid left in 1969 and I switched to bass guitar, with Denis Scherk on drums and Ed Wright on lead vocals and harp. Rod Evans was also on board somewhere along the way, and finally, Barry Newman".

"Ed Wright started out as a coffee house folk singer in Victoria and was befriended by the members of the Fast Flying Vestibule. Eventually Ed was invited to sit in with the group and sang lead vocals for several songs. The lead vocal job was usually by Dave Wilkie, but a fresh sound emerged with Ed. The group eventually morphed into MOXIE"

"My thanks to Ed Simpson-Bakie for his update on the origins of the band, As Sherrif. I had a great time in the band from its inception until the summer of 68. We played a lot at Chris Crawley's club "9 in the Fifth Place" (very I Ching!) where I met my wife to be, Triene (Speller). We're still together and now have 3 grandchildren. Whew!. A lot of dope was smoked during rehearsals and before we played -- that I do remember. What we sounded like as a band is anyone's guess. Andy Godon was a very talented Lead Guitarist who still lives in Victoria. I haven't been in touch with Reid Hudson or Ed since those long-ago days. I haven't play drums since then instead ending up in TV land and working for the CBC and CTV for many years. I teach screenwriting now at York University and write screenplays on my own. Happy days in those hazy days with As Sheriff! Here's to all the great musicians in Victoria and to all the great drummers who played for As Sheriff after me. Great website". Thanks, Peter Lower
