Label: Sonic Unyon
The Coastaline Fire bio (02/2002)

A sparse, isolated and picturesque setting can force one to seek out sources
of inspiration, be it from literary, audio or visual sources. This internal
desire stems from the foundation of being forced to know and face ones
self, similar to a sensory deprivation tank of sorts in a rural setting. It
is a place where one is unobstructed by concrete and the need to follow
trend. CHORE has gone far beyond their previously humble heavy rock
beginnings of 1997s Another Plebeian and 1999s angst-driven Take my mask
and breathe. Their fine-tuned therapeutic rhythm assault of sound is now
ready to envelop audiences on a mass level.

San Francisco-area producer/engineer Alex Newport (At The Drive-In, Melvins,
Fudge Tunnel) was the architect responsible for capturing the bands
soulfully hard and melodically polished rhythms contained within The
Coastaline Fire. The clairvoyantly crisp guitars and blooming vocals trigger
the brain, fueled by the poetic psychology postcard lyrics.

CHORE exists in a cerebral yet commercially accessible dimension that is
progressively influenced yet reflectively their own. When they are light,
they are heavy. When they are heavy, they are light. When they are both,
CHORE is a new force.

The band has toured extensively across Canada and the United States They
performed at the 1999 South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Texas and
have also participated in the past three North By North East festivals in
Toronto. Along the way, CHORE has shared the stage with many diverse acts,
including I Mother Earth, the Rheostatics, Finger Eleven, Burning Airlines,
Shiner, Karma to Burn, Buried Alive and The Dismemberment Plan.
