The Noisettes are accurately named—not just for their sound, but also for the loud splash the London-based trio has made. Fronted by the supremely talented and beautiful Shingai Shoniwa, the group has taken off in the UK with its debut What’s the Time Mr. Wolf? and is about to do the same in North America. On songs like “Bridge To Canada” and “Scratch Your Name” (featured in a speeding car scene in the final episode of The Sopranos) the band brings a NYC-Brooklyn art aesthetic to their visceral rock ’n’ roll.

Live, the band is even more powerful than on record as Shingai patrols the stage like an Amazonian warrior with an eye for fashion, guitarist Dan Smith provides heavy, blues- and psychedelic-rock based riffage, and Jamie Morrison supplies a steady, pounding backbeat. Punk, dirty blues, and acid-rock all get mixed in Noisettes’ thrillingly raucous sound. The band has played the Coachella Festival and toured with Muse, Bloc Party, TV on the Radio, and Babyshambles
