metapop does boeckner: metapop orchestra, Veronica Tangent, guest hostess

Event Description

As part of the New Currents Festival of New Music, the metapop orchestra will present the music of Dan Boeckner (Wolf Parade, Atlas Strategic, Handsome Furs).
The ensemble (including theremin, fagott, french horn, viola) will present some original arrangements of Boeckner songs, as well as add live overdubs to some of his oeuvre. They will attempt to not only deconstruct, but reconstruct his work, bringing out the experimental aspects and downplaying the undeniably attractive pop sensibilities.
If you like pop/rock, but find too much of it gives you a saccarine-sweet headache, this show is for you.
