London, Ontario folksinger Allison Brown performs in Victoria for the first time along with special guest violinist Anna Atkinson on Saturday, March 5th at the Spiral Cafe (418 Craigflower, 386-9303), beginning at 8pm, "Pass The Hat". Welcome Allison & Anna by joining them for a unique evening of groovy acoustic songs; folk, traditional & original at their first west coast performance together!
Allison Brown has never been on an airplane, seen the ocean or has been farther away from home than Winnipeg. This March, she records her first full-length CD out west on Thetis Island at the home studio of guitarist and master of musical tradition, David Essig. Anna Atkinson is currently studying classical music at the University of Victoria. Anna & Allison met in their home town of Windsor, Ontario and have been combining their talents and love for folk music at every opportunity since!
Folksinger Allison Brown's engaging and eclectic performance invites her audience on a journey through a wide range of emotions and experiences. As an excellent interpreter of folk and roots music, she treads the thin lines between folk, blues and country with a diverse repertoire of both traditional and original songs. Allison plays guitar along with her smooth vocals, delivered with the honest intensity of an authentic storyteller. With over ten years of performance experience, Allison's confident stage savvy is evident whether in an intimate coffeehouse, concert hall or a raucous nightclub atmosphere.
Sprinkled with true folk grit, elements of Anna Atkinson's extensive classical music training and charming personality shine through her whimsical performances on violin, guitar, and voice. Also a gifted songwriter, Anna's talent as both an accompanist and soloist is especially rare.
Allison is eagerly anticipating her great west coast adventure and her reunion performance with longtime friend Anna Atkinson. The gals expect an enthusiastic response at their first Victoria performance together!
