Recently appointed to the Order of Canada "for his enduring contributions as a folk music icon, adventurer, and cultural ambassador for Canada", Ian Tamblyn has been a working musician since 1972. He has released dozens of albums of his own work as well as acting as producer for many other artists and has written so many songs he’s given up on counting them! Ian has also written fourteen plays, over one hundred theatre soundtracks, and has received numerous awards and nominations for his work as a songwriter and instrumental artist.
Ian holds an honourary doctorate from Lakehead University, a Distinguished Alumni Award from Trent University, and he is also a Fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographic Society. Ian’s songs have been covered by numerous artists including a tribute album of his work titled ‘Coastline of our Dreams’ featuring such artists as Lynn Miles, Susan Crowe, Hart Rouge, and Valdy. His latest album, released in 2021 and titled 'A Longing for Innocence', led to Ian's nomination as English Songwriter of the Year by the Canadian Folk Music Awards.
