Rumbo a México” means “on the way to Mexico.’ The award-winning choir of Christ Church Cathedral is headed South, with upcoming performances in the historic colonial Mexican centres of San Miguel de Allende, Querétero, and Guanajuato.
Rumbo a México is your chance to hear this CBC Champion choir’s tour repertoire in the historic surroundings of Vancouver’s recently renovated Christ Church Cathedral.
Expect works by Mendelssohn, Sanders, Byrd and Bainton, plus glowing Gregorian chant, and works by Mexican, Spanish and Canadian composers.
Vancouver’s Christ Church Cathedral choir won first place in the Church Choir category of the 2006 CBC/Radio-Canada National Radio Competition for Amateur Choirs, as well as a special competition-wide award for the Best Performance Of A Canadian Work. The adjudicators praised the choir’s lovely shaping, dynamics and perfect intonation. The choir had previously won the competition in 1998, 2000, and 2002.
